AGRICULTURE

India is a diverse country, made up of various religions, traditions and cultures. The Ministry of Tourism has identified 5 sectors, namely Culture, Tourism, Aviation, Wellness and Hospitality as the 5 core sectors that require development to further cement India as the number one cultural hub of the world.

The UP government has put forward reforms to promote Uttar Pradesh as a destination of Indian culture, heritage and wellness because it hosts a wide range of tourist destinations, handicrafts and traditions, including the UNESCO heritage city of Varanasi.

Niti Aayog describes this sector as a major driver of growth and employment in India and has pitched for re-development of the main Hasratganj market in Lucknow, among others. The EODB flagship programme #RadiantUP has invited 100 CEO’s from this sector to select 10 best projects under this industry that will be provided with single window clearances and steady clearance facilitations in an investor-friendly capital.

The state government of Uttar Pradesh has recently introduced the Uttar Pradesh Heritage Arc which connects the tourism hubs of Agra, Lucknow and Varanasi. A Craft, Cuisine and Culture Trail will include all cultural centers connected to handicrafts, cuisine and special cultural activities. The government has vowed to establish the state as a Brand, determined to extend trainings in local arts and crafts and sports, improve livelihood of the citizens and contribute to the economy of the State under ‘Skill India’ initiative.

The UP tourism policy paves the way forward by promoting publicized events, fairs, festivals, etc. at an international level and promote the state through a web portal, social media and a mobile application, all introduced under the ‘Digital India’ campaign.
