Shri. Pankaj Batra

Shri. Pankaj Batra is a distinguished power sector expert and policy advisor with more than 35 years of experience in energy systems, power sector planning, grid modernisation, and regional energy integration. He currently serves as Senior Advisor at the Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe), where he leads initiatives focused on regional energy security, cross-border electricity trade, and energy market development in South Asia.

Prior to joining IRADe, he served as Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Government of India, where he played a key role in the planning and development of India’s power sector across thermal, hydro, renewable energy, transmission, and distribution systems. He also served as Member (Planning) at CEA, contributing significantly to national energy infrastructure and grid development strategies.

Shri. Batra has extensive expertise in smart grids, energy policy, power system management, and grid-scale energy storage. He currently chairs multiple national committees related to smart grids, power system communication, and energy storage standards, and actively contributes to India’s long-term energy transition and sustainability initiatives.

As a Member of the NHEV Knowledge Group, Shri. Pankaj Batra contributes strategic expertise in energy systems, smart grid infrastructure, and sustainable power integration, supporting the development of future-ready electric mobility ecosystems in India.
